Organic Chemistry: Best tool for studying

Organic Chemistry

The best tool for students studying organic chemistry is a molecular model set.

Most sets come with an excess of hydrogen and carbon elements as these are the elements that will be used the most in organic models. The set I have which I bought in my second year of chemical engineering saved me many times. In addition to carbon and hydrogen my set also has oxygen, nitrogen, chlorine, bromine, iodine, and generic metal grey.

The set also includes different lengths for the bonds. My set has three lengths. These help with the orientation and bonds that are experienced while making the models.

Multiple molecular structures can be made and studied with this set and other sets. The real life models help students understand how the elements bond and at which angles and planes the bonded elements lay in.

I especially liked creating Franken bonds while using my set. It was fun to set up multiple models and see how the elements could bond with each other.

A hands on approach was the best thing. Instead of just a picture with lines. The model set brought the chemistry to life. Even after I graduated I still used my model set to form and study many organic structures.

The best thing was I actually was allowed to use the set during tests as many teachers allowed students to have a model set during exams. So playing with the set got me better grades too! A win-win situation 😊

Once you are done with the set you can easy take your models apart with a separating tool. Most sets come with this tool which easily separates the bond links even the real short ones.

The website to my model set is below:

So if you are serious about organic chemistry or are struggling with the topic I would highly recommend picking up on of these model sets immediately.
