The Dream Staircase (Original Story)

The Dream Staircase

There is a staircase that will allow you to achieve your true dream. The staircase is not a fancy staircase nor is it in a place that would harm you. It is in a regular neighborhood or town in a regular country that can be accessed by anyone who comes across it. The staircase doesn't judge and doesn't turn down anyone who has a pure dream.

The staircase didn't always exist and those searching for it will most likely never find it as the staircase shouldn't be looked for it should be found. The staircase can also change locations if the dreamer realizes that the staircase possesses the power to grant your dream. It is there to help people not to become a tourist location.

The staircase must be climbed at night and the climber must sit down on the top step. The climber must also look into their past and reflect on their life up to this point. All memories happiness and sadness must be thought of. The staircase reads the climbers mind and finds their true dream. The dream may come instantly or in a few days or years.

                                                                      My Experience

My story with the staircase begins on a regular Friday night I had worked all afternoon and decided to grab a cola and walk through my city. I chose to go to a place where I felt safe to walk at night. Looking at the neon lights in the store fronts and the flashing lights that lit up the bars that were booming this Friday night I decided to grab a burger and fries.

The burger place I chose was a big chain that was open 24hrs. I got my burger and fries and sat down near the window and gazed out onto the street to see people drinking and smoking in the street. It was a really festive night for some reason. I ate my burger and fries with no problems and left the big chain to walk some more outside.

The street seemed to be more alive now as Friday night was maturing. I decided that I would pick up a brew at my favourite pub and see if I could get into any trouble. Once I got to my pub I opened the door and was greeted by the bartender who knew my name. The bar was busy and no tables were available. So I sat at the bar and bought a local brew. The atmosphere was full of chatter and joy as everyone was unwinding after a hard work week. I didn't see any of my friends in the bar so I enjoyed the football game well I drank my beer. The bartender asked if I would like another but I wasn't in the mood so I said goodbye and kept walking down the street.

The smell of stale beer and cigarettes was present in the street. As I walked down the street I felt thirsty so I grabbed a brew from a convenience store and went outside. I didn't see anywhere to sit but there was a staircase. So, I decided to climb the staircase and drink my brew at the top of the staircase.

The staircase wasn't anything special just a staircase that looked clean enough to sit on. It was a little higher than I'd hoped. Climbing the staircase made me build up a small sweat which was going to make the brew so much better. The steps were worn but not in bad condition and a handrail was nowhere to be found. Once I reach the top of the staircase I opened my brew and took a sip.

It was actually pretty comfy and the top step seemed to be a chair that allowed me to think through my past week. I though of everything that happened this week. All the good memories I made and the memories that weren't so good. I even reflected upon my life and how I had got here and what I was going to do in the future. I looked at the stars and gazed for what must have been hours but it felt like seconds. I had gone through my whole life there. It was the first time I had done this in years. My childhood and adult life was all in the mix.

I then picked up my brew which had gone stale at this point so I didn't  drink it anymore. I got up from the staircase and descended down the stairs. The sun was rising at this point and I felt fulfilled more than tired. I found a garbage bin for my brew and tossed it. As I walked down the street I seemed to catch the little things more. I had been up all night but felt refreshed. I went back to the burger chain I had eaten at hours before and got a nice big coffee to accompany me back to my home.

The walk home was pleasant and full of new feelings and sensations. I don't know what happened to me it was like I was a new person and had been reborn. The sun now gleaming felt warm against my skin like a hug from an old friend and the birds singing in the trees felt like music to me. When my apartment was in view I drank the last of my coffee and discarded it. Even the elevator ride up to my apartment felt exciting. Once I entered my apartment I took off my clothes and decided to rest.

I slept for awhile. When I woke up my feelings were still great and I had noticed that my cellphone had some messages on it. I had totally neglected my phone the whole night. The messages were joyful and would lead to new opportunities that would take me to where I am today and allow me to not worry about anything.

As I look back I know that it was that night that propelled me. The staircase was my teacher and guide to happiness. The staircase probably still exists but I will never give its location and do to my new career I can't visit it anymore as I have left the country where it resides. I hope that the staircase helps many more people like it helped me and I bid goodbye to all who listen to my story. Know that dreams do come true you just have to find them in places that might go overlooked by many people...
