Abraham Vampire Hunter (Movie Review)
Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter
Today I review a film I picked up for about three Canadian dollars and surprised me!!
Plot
The story starts off when Abraham Lincoln is a child and he runs to the protection of his friend who is being beaten by a slave owner. The situation leads to Abraham's father being fired from his job. The plantation owner Jack Barts who is angry at the Lincoln's breaks into their house and bites Abraham's mother. Abraham's mother becomes infected and eventually dies. Abraham witnessing this vows to avenge his mothers death.
Now the movie skips ahead to when Abraham is a young man and getting ready to to kill Jack Barts. Lincoln meets a man at the bar while he is drinking and getting ready to kill Barts. The man is Henry Sturges and he senses what Abraham is about to do. Abraham then leaves to kill Barts.
Abraham attempts to kill Barts but unknown to him Barts is a vampire and Abraham is almost killed. Sturges comes and saves Abraham. Abraham then gets trained by Sturges to hunt vampires and the movie ensues.
Review
The movie is very interesting and takes historical events and adds a vampire twist to them. The characters and plot are well written to the events. Seeing Abraham Lincoln hunt vampires is quite amusing and seeing him struggle with life is a great touch too. The story does make the southern states look like a vampire wasteland but it's not overly anti-south.
The plot starts off fast and kind of slows down. There are vampire deaths throughout the movie but there is also a lot of dialogue that can get a little tedious between action and gore scenes. There are also a couple scary scenes in the movie that can give you quite a jump.
The acting is great. The characters and actors/actresses fit each other well and it feels like the parts were made for them.
The movie is a good gore, horror, vampire film and is worth a watch is you can pick it up for a couple dollars or so.
