My First Zelda Game

My Excuse

I've been a gamer since I was a young child and have gone through many gaming systems from the original game boy to PCs. However through this time there has been a fairly famous video game series that I haven't gotten into. This is the legend of Zelda series.

As a young gamer I was more interested in fighting games and puzzle games and never even seen the legend of Zelda as far as I can remember until the N64. I bought an N64 and looked at Zelda the ocarina of time but decided to buy another game instead. This decision probably changed my life forever for better or worse. After this I never really looked at another Zelda game again. I got engraved into pokemon and became a fan of the gameboy games and the N64 games. Pokemon snap and stadium being my most nostalgic games from the N64 and quite possibly my favourite games of all time.

After the N64 and Game Boy I went on to the Gamecube. During these years I never looked at any Zelda games or even read about any Zelda game outside of nintendo power or gaming magazines. The legend of Zelda was growing but I was more interested in shooters and more teenager friendly games.

Once the Gamecube was fazed out I switched to the dark side. The PS3 is quite nostalgic for me but not the games as a whole but the system as it was the first time I bought a non-Nintendo console. The games were fun and the graphics were great for the time but I would return.

As all good Nintendo fanboys I returned to the holy land in the form of the 2ds. I really enjoy my 2ds and bought pokemon moon and ultra moon for it and got sucked right back into the nintendo verse. Here is where the past comes full circle.

Zelda: The Ocarina of Time

Black Friday 2017 a game called The Ocarina of Time came on sale and I snagged it up for $20 Canadian. It was the first time I ever purchased a Zelda game. I was excited and overwhelmed as my childhood fire was reignited almost 20 years later.

The game sat dormant on my shelf until early april when I decided to open it (video below). The fresh game smelled like all new video games and the nostalgic N64 era was back in glory. I had finally gotten the game that evaded me for almost two decades.

Currently I am playing through the Ocarina of Time and enjoying it. It is a new and exciting experience for me. I will play through it eventually and pass it on to my children in the hope they discover it before I did..
