Can You Become Too Old For Lego?

Can someone become to old for Lego?

Lego is a staple for most children and almost every child has played with lego at least once in there life at least in the last twenty years. The lego age ratings usually don't usually go over the age of 18 with some exceptions. So does this mean that you can become too old to play with lego?

As a man in his mid twenties I still enjoy lego. Once in awhile I will buy a lego star wars or creator set and make the set and put it on display either in my room or my living room. My wife as well likes to create with lego too. She has a couple boxes of loose lego that she designs houses and other cool creatures with. So with both of us enjoying lego at our ages are we trying to relive our childhood or are we breaking new ground by building new and exciting block figures and scenes?

Personally I think we are not too old for lego as creativity shouldn't be hindered by age. Building the lego sets helps with creativity as we can see how lego turns a few building blocks into massive figures that look like there movie counter parts. A few hundred blocks turn into a AT-AT or a Starship. The amount of time put into building the set also brings a sense of accomplishment. Some sets take hours even days to build and seeing the creation come to life is amazing and a great feeling.

The opposing opinion that lego are for children is usually held by people who didn't enjoy lego as a child or were told to stop playing with lego and grow up. Sure I can see their argument because a lot of lego sets are geared for young teenagers or even younger children. A few lego sets are gimmicky and provide little to no effort to complete. People opposed to adults playing with lego usually target these sets as examples as why legos are for children. Also there is an argument that adults playing with lego suffer from peter pan syndrome (they don't want to grow up).

Again I disagree with the fact that one can become too old to play with lego. Some things you may outgrow and feel are childish but lego shouldn't be. In the past video games and comics were thought to be childish and for loners and losers. In recent years video games and comics have become mainstream and it's common for people of all ages to enjoy these forms of media. I may be biased as I enjoyed lego since I was a young child. However to finish  the topic I believe you can never be too old to play with lego.

Both sides of the argument have valid points.

Which side are you on? Can adults play with lego or should they grow up?
